Curse of Birth

The Curse of Birth is a phanomena which occurs in Olderand where it becomes extremely difficult to conceive a child. Generally believed to be the result of Natural Order, people are extremely unlikely to be able to conceive specifically while in Olderand. This means that the number of Humans who are born in Olderand is extremely low. Those who are conceived and born there are born with a unique immunity to the effects of Sleep Sickness. These people are revered both for their immunity and their status as a person born among Natural Order.

While its origin is not explained, the Curse of Birth has been well documented through the years, and has had a major effect on the demographics of Olderand. Most who live on Olderand are expats from Anderand, visiting only for short periods of time until the Sleep Sickness becomes too much to manage. Those born on Olderand are able to perform unique roles, as they are able to see the island in its true form. While many attempts have been made to work around the Curse of Birth, it is currently unexplained.
